The Staff has been reduced by the abolition of the Office of Chinese Clerk to the Chief Justice. There is an increase in the amount voted for purchase of Books much needed.
This is small, but ... in its receive.
This increase is owing to an additional allowance for Chair Coolies for the Colonial Chaplain.
Additional Salary to Second Master (Vide Despatch No. 115 of 26th September, 1872), and an increase in the number and Salaries of Chinese Masters. A reduction has been made in the Laboratory expenses.
The Salary of Head Wardmaster increased by $60, and that of the Health Officer and Inspector of Emigrants by $500.
